Kevin
Barron
Kevin Barron is Director of Information Systems at the Kavli
Institute for Theoretical Physics, located at the University
of California, Santa Barbara. A graduate of the Film production
and Communications programs at Simon Fraser University, he
began working in network communications in 1983. These projects
have spanned a wide range of countries and collaborators,
and were undertaken for clients ranging from the United Nations
to John Cleese. In 1997 Kevin took an active role in CENIC
(www.cenic.org), which built an all-optical, advanced network
in California. As founding chair of the Advanced Applications
Council for CENIC, he developed a keen awareness of the capabilities
of this Internet2 network and the challenges faced by those
seeking to use it. Kevin is a contributing author to two best-selling
books on the Internet, and has given many seminars, classes,
and presentations on the subject of advanced networking.
